Medication Technician

Symphony Manor of Feasterville - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Attends work as scheduled and follows community's call-off procedures Accurately and safely prepares, assists, and documents medications administered in accordance with all applicable rules and laws at the delegation of a licensed nurse and ordered for resident use by physician.
Properly administers medication to assigned residents and coordinates with nurse for administration of any medication that the medication aide is unable to administer.
Follows the labeling policies and practices of the community.
Documents medication administered in the Electronic Medical Record Notifies the nurse on duty of medication unavailable.
Promptly notify the Health & Wellness Director and / or other nurse on duty or call of any errors or reactions to medications.
Accurately measures, records, and reports the vital signs of residents.
Documents vital signs in the Electronic Medical Record.
Assists residents with bathing, grooming, dressing, escort service, feeding, toileting, and other activities of daily living.
Records all resident care and assistance provided in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with community policies and procedures.
Follows the residents service plan in providing care.
Immediately notifies the nurse on duty and / or Health & Wellness Director of any change in a resident's status, issues, or concerns.
Performs daily and as needed cleaning of the medication cart(s) to ensure a clean and sanitary environment maintaining infection control standards.
Maintains a clean and organized working environment including the nurse's station / office and unit assigned.
Respects resident's rights.
Is familiar with emergency equipment and procedures.
Maintains a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices.
Attends all required training, in-service, and staff meetings.
Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, families, and co-workers.
Adheres to all health and safety regulations and Community policies and procedures.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
Completion of all requirements to be licensed / hold a certificate as a Medication Technician in the state of practice.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Excellent punctuality and attendance record.
Genuine concern for and ability to work with the elderly.
Problem solving and reasoning skills.
Ability and willingness to accept and follow delegation from nurse(s) and / or supervisors.
Ability to stay within a planned time schedule.
Maintain a positive work environment with employees, residents and community members.
Ability to utilize infection prevention and control measures.
Possess sufficient communication and language (orally and written) skills to perform job duties and communicate with residents, other staff, supervisors, family members, etc.

Sits, stands, bends, lifts, and moves frequently during working hours.
May work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays and other positions temporarily, when necessary.
